Member Services Committees


Diversity

Encourage cultural diversity within the legal profession and the entrance of minorities into the area of intellectual property law practice.

Membership

Encourages existing members to maintain their section membership and the growth of the section by the addition of new members; provides information and assistance regarding employment of prospective employers and employees; and coordinates with the section secretary and treasurer the annual updating, publishing and distribution of the directory of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.

New Lawyers

The purpose of the New Lawyers Committee is to provide encouragement and support for new lawyers through networking and mentoring opportunities.

Newsletter

The purpose of the Newsletter Committee is to publish the section newsletter on at least a quarterly basis. The newsletter contains practical articles focusing on intellectual property, information about CLE events, section activities, member profiles, pro bono opportunities and other benefits of membership. Members of the committee work with article authors to ensure that final articles are of the most practical value to section members and meet newsletter guidelines. Committee members also assist in the preparation of Special Edition Newsletters covering the IP Law Section CLE’s.

Public Relations

The purpose of the Public Relations Committee is to educate the public about Intellectual Property Law and to engage in public service activities to further that goal. The committee will organize a speaker’s bureau to fulfill requests for speakers on Intellectual Property Law topics to non-lawyers, general lawyers, law students, and school children in Texas. The Committee will advise council as to opportunities for the section to serve the public with respect to education on Intellectual Property Law and other public service activities intended to enhance the image of the section and its members. The committee will develop policies on media inquiries from the public to the section.

Texas IP Law Journal

The purpose of the TIPLJ is to edit, review, and approve Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal articles for member interest.

Website

The purpose of the Website Committee is to ensure that the section’s website is regularly updated with the most relevant information of interest to the membership, such as CLE’s, articles, scholarship opportunities and more.

Women in IP

The objective of this Committee is to provide networking and mentoring resources and opportunities to women practitioners of Intellectual Property Law throughout the State of Texas.
